Our special program of visits and excursions provide
all the participants and their partners the chance to discover the
cultural aspects of the city and to taste the typical products of
the surrounding territory.
VERONA
It’s an enchanting
city with elegant buildings and fabulous boutiques; the centre
is rich in history: there are houses and churches of every
age and style in warm soft colours, charming corners, distinctive
alleys, not forgetting the porches, the courtyards, the wells
and the portals. From the very famous Piazza Brà with
the "Arena", to the aristocratic Piazza dei Signori
and the picturesque Piazza delle Erbe, to the elegant courtyard
of the Scala Della Ragione and its panoramic Lamberti Tower,
this is the lively heart of the city. The River Adige is at
the end of every street and its old bridges are like "lace"
reflected in the waters.
LAKE GARDA
It’s
the most characteristic of the Italian Pre-Alpine lakes. It’s
climate proves to be extremely temperate and the vast range
of flora, included species indigenous to different climatic
zones, are a remarkable example for the outstanding features
of this lake.
“Olive Riviera”
is the name of the east side of Lake Garda: 50 km of beautiful
and varied countryside due to a succession of coves, small
bays, villages and castles embedded in an environment characterized
by the consistent presence of olive trees and other Mediterranean
plants.
Lake Garda offers valuable
cultural and culinary attractions and our excursion includes
an interesting visit of the local market and lunch in a very
renowned restaurant with some typical dishes of the lake tradition.
THE WINE PRODUCTION:
THE ESTATE
Dante Aligheri lived
several years of his exile in Verona. His son Pietro then
decided to remain and bought this estate located in the heart
of historic Valpolicella.
The house and grounds, twenty generations later, remain property
of the Count direct descendant
of the poet. Immersed in the vineyards of Valpolicella the
Estate represents the nucleus of a vast
and flourishing agricultural reality.
Our proposal includes
a guided visit of the estate and its ancient cellars with
commentary highlighting points of historic and enological
interest. Lunch will follow with tasting of different
wines such as: Possessioni Bianco and Rosso, Amarone and
Recioto. The menu includes cooked dishes, desert, coffee
and Grappa of Amarone.
THE ANCIENT RICE MILL
The
Ancient Rice Mill is possibly
the oldest operating plant in Italy today. The archives
indicate that the request for its building was passed to
the Venetian Republic in 1644 and that it was put in operation
in 1656. It has belonged to the property from 1920.
The rice farm is a clear example of a family artisanship
still bound to tradition and the high level quality of their
rice is to be attributed to the absolute purity of spring
water and to the love and patient cares dedicated to growing
the rice. Fields are very little exploited and parasites
are not fought by using herbicidal indiscriminately. Part
of the energy needed derives from a big paddle wheel moved
by water which runs under the building. The visit includes
the rice fields, the farm and the Ancient Mill.
Lunch will follow the visit and the menu is nearly entirely
dedicated to rice.
